Missing exactly one month to Christmas and that Christmas would be without the lights that decorate and transform the main attractions of the city?
The city of Turin like every year during the Christmas period (actually a bit 'before and a little' later), became the capital of Christmas lights, even the "light artist". This event, which was founded in 1998 and this year the tenth edition has transformed the lights, designed by contemporary artists, works of art in true light. Christmas lights that become props, objects of symbolic value, conceptual, magic, seeking to restore a bit 'true spirit of Christmas.
This year 's Luci d'artista, began Nov. 6 and will end January 13, 2008, the light installations by leading artists including Pistoletto, Merz, Casorati, Buren Vercruisse and De Maria, trace a path between ideal and museums galleries, and illuminating streets and squares of the center, offering citizens and tourists the opportunity to come into direct contact with contemporary art.
This year, major event of Contemporary Arts Torino Piemonte container program of public and private initiatives related to contemporary occurring in the area, provides for the redevelopment of 19 separate locations with installations. The main novelty is represented by the work of Nicola De Maria, Kingdom of Flowers: cosmic nest of all souls, which will be enlarged and placed in the monumental Piazza Vittorio Veneto, one of the biggest squares in Italy. The opera, set in previous years in Piazza Carlina, is of great visual impact, as it will affect the 106 street lamps and the 16 horns of the square.
